Harrison's Flowers, Review of Film - Homework 4 (Humberto)

When a journalist is missing in the Balkans war, his wife begins a journey through Yugoslavia looking for news about the love of her life. She is helped by other journalist and they travel across the ruined country. This film shows with extreme realism the horrendous acts of the soldiers against civil population. However we can see another point of view, the power of hopeful.  This war at the beginning didn’t have the enough attention and the media hided the real catastrophe. 

My Day - Homework 3 (Humberto)

I wake up at 6:45 a.m., I get up and take a shower. After that I prepare my breakfast and read the newspaper. At 8:00 o’clock I get out of my house.

I arrive to my office at 9:00 a.m. I turn on my personal computer and prepare my first “mate” of the day and I check my emails with the instructions for my work day.
I have lunch from 13:00 to 14:00. I usually do my own work in this period of time, I read tutorials or write something for my blogs.

I leave my job at 18:30 (currently I leave my job at 5:30). In my house I have something light to eat and I go out to run three times a week.

At night I listen to music or watch a movie and I turn off the light. I go to sleep at about 12:00 and 12:30 hrs.

Describe the place where you live (homework#5 by Omar).

I live in a flat in the city centre. It's a small place with only one bedroom, one bathroom and it has one room for a livingroom and a kitchen. It's a safety and quiet place. The neigbourhood has a mixture of classic houses and modern buildings.

There is a square to the South, the subway to the North and there is a lot of kinds of shops like supermarkets, chemists, butcher's, stationer's, etc.. All is near. It's a very comfortable place for me.    

My House (Bernardo's Homework 4)

I live in San Miguel my neighborhood is very quiet. I live in a house with only one floor and doesn’t have any front garden. I have two dogs and done cat, my house is small and it doesn’t have enough rooms. I have an interior apartment for guests and one interior garden with frutal trees.

I live in a residential area and I don´t like having other people living nearby, because they are very noisy. I live in a terraced house, it has four bedrooms, one bathroom and a small kichen.

I think the inside of my house is pretty  but at the outside it is not because it doesn`t have any garden or trees.

Biology and me

Four years ago, when I decided to study Biology I didn’t really know what I would do in the future. I only knew than I loved nature and I wanted to save the world. My second and third years were easier than my first year where I didn’t know anything yet. I was in my third year when I discovered my passion, the Ecology, which studies nature, its relationship and its rules. As far as I know I have taken all the courses that I have been able to.

Although my fourth year has been very difficult, I will not give up…

I hope so!

Anthony Hopkins

He is a Welsh-American actor, though he lives in America. He is in his early seventies and he is might be still attractive.

He has short grey hair and he doesn’t wear beard. It is of medium height, in fact he is 5.6 feet tall, and he also has blue eyes.

He may be one of the best actors in our times. He won the Oscar in 1992 for Best Actor in the movie The Silence of the Lambs.

normal day

My day starts at 06:30 am, when should I get up to go to work. Then I take a shower, have
breakfast and leave to take the bus that will lead me to Vitacura, the place where I work at. I
start work at 08:45 am, and at 13:00 pm, during my lunch hour I go to the gym, After lunch, I
go back to my office and I work until 17: 45 pm. Once I have left my job, I take the bus to the
English Institute.

This week I saw the Robin Hood film, whose story is known by everybody; it is about a person
who robbed the rich and gave it to the poor, but this story is about the younger Robin. They
liked stealing. The movie was entertaining, with lots of action, but the story of Robin Hood’s life
is somewhat different from what we all know. Robin Hood was not his real name and it tells how
he adopted that name. I recommend this interesting and entertaining film.

Review of “Face Off (Omar - homework #4 second part)”.

The film was made in the 90s and it is starring by John Travolta and Nicolas Cage. It is about an agent of the FBI named Sean Archer (Travolta) and an international criminal named Castor Troy (Cage). Sean takes on the physical appearance of Castor with the objective of stopping a terrorist plan. Now, one of the crimes of Castor was killed Sean’s son. In a raid, Castor is captured by Sean; however, there is a bomb into a building at the city center of Los Angeles installed by Castor. Through a modern process of surgery, doctors take away Castor’s face and Archer’s face; then they put the Castor’s face on Archer’s body, while they keep the face of Castor into a proper recipient. After that, the new Castor (Archer) goes to Alcatraz and, pretending to be jailed, speaks to Castor’s brother and gets vital information about the location of the bomb. Meanwhile, Castor recovers his conscience and captures the doctors and forces them to make him a new surgery to install the Archer’s face on his body. The new Archer kills all the doctors and erases all kind of evidence. After this, it stats a struggle between them: Archer tries to recover his identity and Castor feels comfortable with a new life as an agent, because he’s able to make his dirty business without the persecution of the  police.

A typical day (Omar - homework #4 first part).

I have to wake up at 4.30 because my workday starts at 6.00 and finishes at 15.00. I take a shower, get dressed and have breakfast. After that, I walk to Santa Lucia Station and I get into the subway until La Moneda Station. I work at Metro Corporate Building. My principal activities are to give technical support to the regulators of traffic in the subway and to communicate to my section the most important events and incidents. When I go out of my work I have lunch in my flat and then I have two options: to do my homework or to sleep: it depends on how tired am I. Around 18.15 I go to my English class in IPCB. I love it! I’m able to practice my English with nice people who search the same objective than I. At night, I arrive to my flat and I have dinner with my girlfriend and we talk about our activities of the day. Finally, between 11.00 or 11.30 I get my deserved rest.

My Favorite Film (Bernardo's Homework 4 part 2)

I like the Godfather’s movie, that movie is one of best movies in the history of the cinema. In this movie one of the principal characters is Al Pacino; he gives life to ‘Michael Corlone’, the youngest child of one of most respected bosses of the mafia in the United States. This movie tells the story of the Dirty Business of the mafia in United States and how the Italo American people manage the American people in different positions like police officers, politics, etc. in order to make his dreams of power and money come true.

My Tipical Day (Bernardo's Homework 4 part 1)

In a tipical day, I wake up at 07:45 am. After that, I go to the kitchen to prepare the  milk for my child, and then I go to the bathroom and take a shower. After that I get dressed, I leave home and walk to Ciudad del Niño subway station and get the subway until Plaza de Armas subway station. Between the station and my job I buy a cake. When I arrive to my job I have breakfast and I begin with my daily work. At 13:00 I have my lunch, at 18:00 I go to the British Intitute to my English classes, at about 21:30 I go home. When I arrive to my house I put my child into his bed and then.... I can't tell.

Homework 3: a short story by Omar.

Once, my brothers and I were playing football with some friends. My grandfather and my father were watching our match. It was any night on October 1989. We made a pause in our match and we approached them. They were talking about a “light” which was flying at one side of Cerro Chena of San Bernardo. All the people were there looking at the “light”. That light had a circle form and its flight wasn’t “normal” like a helicopter or an airplane.

Suddenly, the “light” moved very fast and stopped just in front of us. It started to come to us and we could see clearly that, that “light” was an UFO. It had a shape like a plate over another plate making a thing similar to a rugby ball.

Slowly the UFO moved away until it disappeared. None of us could believe what had happened. My father had seen UFOs before but not the rest of people that was in that place.

The next day, I told my experience to a lot of people. Obviously, no one believed me.

I don’t know if inside a UFO there is an “alien” but I know that what I saw was real indeed.

My History (Juan Muñoz)

It was April 28th , 2010, I was driving my motorcycle at 100 k/h with my girlfriend through the 5 North highway from Llay Llay to Santiago. It was 3 pm. At 6 I had to return to work, which gave us enough time to share. The heat was stifling; everything was going smoothly until my girlfriend, by instinct, told me to stop. I ignored her, until she told me again to stop. As soon as I stopped, I realized that the front tire was blown: if we had continued driving 1 more minute, we had had a tragic accident. Then we called the truck road, which took 1 hour to get where we were in. After the truck brought us to Movicenter, we hired a special crane to take us home. I got work at 09 pm that day. After what happened that day, I took the tire of my motorcycle to a mechanic shop; the mechanic told me that the tire was in perfect conditions, which I thought was strange. Up to this day, I find no response to the event that happened that day.

The Past History (Bernardo)

When I was younger, about 13 years old, I had to choose the secondary school in where I wanted to study. I decided to study at LIPOGAL 2. Then I needed to choose the career but I didn’t know what I wanted to do in the future. In this school I must decide the career in the 1st year; in that opportunity I decided to study Mechanical. In that 1^st  year the school teaches all the subjects from the schedule, and then, when students were in their 2nd year, they could change their preference. In the middle of the 1st year my teacher of Computing told me “You don’t look like a Mechanic, you should change your choice and begin with Computing which is the career for the future”. I took this words and I changed my choice in the 2nd year. I was the best student from my school and I could study Informatics Engineering in the high school. Today I think in those words and I feel how those words changed my future completely.

Homework 2: Gene Simmons description (Humberto)

Gene Simmons is a rock star. He plays bass guitar and sings in the famous rock band KISS.
He is an icon of the ‘seventies rock’ and today he is one of the most famous person in the rock scene.

He is in his early seventies, he is very tall. He has black, shoulder length hair, and his hair is a bit wavy.
Usually he wears a three days beard and always wears black clothes.

He is not handsome, but he is very attractive for a lot of women (I think it’s because of his very big wallet)

Nowadays he has a TV show and he is travelling around the world with his band promoting his last album called "Sonic Boom".

Megan Fox is a young American actress and model.

She was born in 16 May, 1986; she’s 24. She is medium height - 1.63m - and slim and her eyes are very pretty. They are light blue. She has long and dark blonde hair, but now it is black (J), so her eyes look shiner. Commonly, she has straight hair. Also, she has fair complexion and her face has fine features.

Definitely, she is a very attractive woman. She is always good looking.

He worked in a lot of movies and  His first onscreen role was in an episode of the Australian TV series "Spyforce," and landed a role singing and dancing on stage in an Australian production of "Grease, but he make a fomous actor whith his role  in “A Beautiful Mind”, “Cinderella man”, “Gladiator”, and “Robin hood” his recently great movie, because all his movies he won a lot  of awars.

He’s in his early seventies, he’s a bit short and slim, he has black hair and grey beard. He has got a ‘normal’ hair style and has kind of wavy hair. He has brown eyes and has wrinkles in all his face. A lot of women say he’s good-looking. In that picture he is wearing a black jacket, white shirt and a black tie.

He has worked in a lot of movies and has won many awards for being an actor. His most famous movie is The Godfather.

My name is Juan Muñoz Ponce, I live in Santiago Downtown, since April 2010. I was born in Valparaiso and I studied Computer engenier. Nowadays. I Have short black hair and brown eyes. my estature is 1,80 meters, am not fat neither thin.


I am working in Vitacura, in Viña San Pedro Tarapaca S.A.
In my free time I like watching films, tv, and also doing exercises in my lunch time. Although I live in Santiago, I don't like living here, because people is always in a hurry and stressed. I would never change Valparaiso, I like the beach and the fresh air.

Autobiography Bernardo Oyanedel

My name is Bernardo Vicente Oyanedel Ancapi, I was born on 15^th November, 1981 at the Higuera´s hospital from Talcahuano city, My mother is Angelina and my father is Bernardo. When I was 1 month old, I came to Santiago city with my mother. My father is a trader and my mother is a domestic employee.

I studied Technician in Computer at the “Liceo Politecnico Galvarino”, at first I want to study mechanical but a one teacher told me “that career doesn’t give the opportunities to progress computing is the future, you should better study”, I graduate from high school and I was the best student of promotion in the entire school. After that I studied informatics engineering at the DOUC-UC Institute.

At the end of year 1998 I started a relationship with my current wife, we got married on the November of 2007, a year after born our first child was bord. He is called “Matias”, and he is the reason why I wake up every day.

I like stay in home and see movies, My favorite movie is “The Goodfather”.

I'm Omar. How you doing?

Well, you know me a bit. My profession is Electrical Engineer and I work in Metro De Santiago. My I am Analyst of Maintenance. Every day, I wake up at 4 or 4.30, so it’s really hard.

I live in San Bernardo. It's a good town but it is really far from everything. I hope I can move to another town next summer.

I'm 32 years old. I'm tall. I have dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. I’m a bit tanned, but not too much. I like playing the electric guitar, playing football, listening to my favourite music, reading different articles about current world, technology, etc. What else... I like going out and shearing good moments with my girlfriend. Unfortunately, at the moment I don`t have enough time to do all my hobbies or other activities.
